Ganesh Chaturthi

The students of class III conducted the morning assembly on 23rd  August, 2017. The theme of the assembly was ‘Ganesh Chaturthi’. The assembly began with a Ganesh shloka Vakratunda Mahakaya” followed by a short informative skit telling  the reason why Ganesha, the son of Lord Shiva and his consort Goddess Parvati; came to have the head of an elephant on a human body. The elephant symbolizes strength, wisdom and longevity.

The performance also highlighted the wisdom of lord Ganesha. Children brought out eco-friendly ways of celebrating this festival. These included banning the use of plaster of paris idols and their immersion in lakes, rivers or ponds and avoiding loud blaring music and too much of lighting etc. The children urged everyone to use papier-mache, brass, copper or clay idols and go for a symbolic immersion in buckets/ tanks. They sensitized the assembly about using natural colours, flowers and lentils for decoration and called it “a sensitive, informative, innovative and an overall brilliant performance by the children” Undoubtedly the students were thrilled!!The assembly was concluded with the Principal’s address to the school followed by the National Anthem.
